Liposuction in Thailand: A Day in the Life of a Patient

Update 16/09/2018

If you decide to have liposuction in Thailand at the Naravee Aesthetic Center, you are probably curious to know what a typical day looks like for our patients. Our goal is not only to ensure you enjoy a complication-free procedure that gives you the body you’ve always wanted, we also aim to make patients feel as if they are a guest in a luxury hotel.

Upon Arrival
We ask all patients to sign a consent form which states that you know about the possible benefits, risks and outcomes of the liposuction procedure and have also been told about possible alternatives. You will then be given pressure garments, medications and other supplies that have not been provided previously. At the Naravee Aesthetic Center, we have a host of amenities for you to enjoy while you wait and our trained, English speaking staff will be on hand to tend to your every need.

The Procedure
Once the time draws nearer, your surgeon will use a marker to indicate the area(s) to be treated and will also take a ‘before’ picture for the purposes of comparison as long as the patient permits it. You should not have eaten or drank anything for a minimum of 6 hours (longer is better) and you will be brought into the surgical suite where the anaesthesia will be administered. If local anaesthesia is used, you will be conscious and able to inform the surgeon if you feel any unusual sensations.

Most liposuction procedures in Thailand are in the 1-3 hour range though as little as 20 minutes is required for the actual removal of fatty tissue depending on the area being treated. Removing fat from the chin is a far quicker process than removing it from the buttocks for example. The additional time is taken up with the administration of the anaesthetic which takes around 50% of the time of the procedure in most cases. After the liposuction procedure has been completed, the surgeon will take time to assess your vital signs and decide if you are well enough to go home. If not, you will be kept overnight in the Naravee clinic and looked after by our team.

Aftermath
If local anaesthesia was used in the procedure, you will be able to return to your normal diet almost immediately. We recommend that you drink lots of water and fruit juices but no alcohol for at least 48 hours. It is also important that you have quiet rest for the first few hours after the liposuction procedure and you shouldn’t drive for approximately 24 hours. If your arms, knees or lower legs were the subject of treatment, keep them elevated for 12 hours after the procedure.

You may experience some minor side effects such as vomiting or nausea so don’t panic if this occurs. It is also possible that you will experience an increase in body temperature in the first 48 hours after the procedure so we provide medication for patients that need it. Once you have recovered fully, you will begin to appreciate the impact of what has happened and find that liposuction in Thailand has given you your best body ever.
