Cosmetic surgery for men on the rise
Cosmetic surgery has become a trend among the male population already and most of them turn into plastic surgery. Recent studies particularly from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) show that more male patients are seeking body enhancements through undergoing some cosmetic surgery procedures.
According to the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS), men have 4,757 procedures in 2013 (up 16%) and the most common ones is nose jobs with 1,037 (9%) cases, eyelid surgery 887 (17%) operations and breast reduction 796 (24%) operations. Liposuction has the biggest case of 554 operations (28%) making it in demand to most men.
“Men who have cosmetic procedures are just as happy as women with the results and just as likely to have further surgery,” says east coast cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgeon, Steve R. Fallek, M.D.
According to reports from American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), men prefer having surgical improvements like a balanced nose, rejuvenated face and a trimmer waistline. Men undergo cosmetic surgery because the higher demographic which are males want to look younger, less tired and more vigorous.
Cosmetic surgery such as plastic surgery for men is different from women. Albeit the increased acceptance of plastic surgery, some male patients do not want others to know that they’ve done any work. Men wanted to make sure they’re having a natural appearance. Male patients are also particular with the type of surgeon who will do the work, making it sure that the surgeon fully understands what looks best for men and women. Another difference is men usually undergo liposuction targeting the waist, abdomen, breast, lower back and neck. Reduction of the male breast is also another surgery that male patients prefer to do to their body.
