Choosing the Right Surgeon for Liposuction in Thailand

Update 16/09/2018

While the majority of surgeons carrying out liposuction in Thailand are extremely well qualified and skilful, you can never be too cautious when it comes to your health. It is important to note that to become a qualified plastic surgeon in Thailand, it is necessary to obtain a Doctor of Medicine or a Doctor of Osteopathy degree. After achieving this qualification, doctors usually spend up to 6 years in an integrated plastic surgery residency though some elect to do 3 years in general surgery and 2 years in plastic surgery.

Beware Letters

While those qualified to practise liposuction in Thailand sometimes have various letters after their names, beware a doctor that has lots of them as this is often a sign of a poorly trained or under-qualified physician looking to impress people. Your doctor should have M.D or D.O after this name and may have a Master’s degree or a PhD but as these degrees are not relevant to cosmetic surgery in Thailand, many doctors won’t chase these qualifications. Always look for a board certified plastic surgeon.

In the end, it is your responsibility to locate a reputable surgeon but this should not be that difficult as cosmetic surgery in Thailand features many of the world’s top surgeons including those that work at Naravee.
